State Equipment relocates to Old Weston Road

BUCKHANNON — A local business is ending 2017 in a brand new building.

State Equipment recently moved its location from Tennerton to 370 Old Weston Rd., just over two years after purchasing Burr’s Outdoor Equipment.

After leasing the property since acquiring Burr’s in October 2015, owner Terry Lamm decided he wanted to further his commitment to Upshur County by purchasing property, according to Sandra Montgomery.

The Old Weston Road site was chosen for its proximity to Route 33 which provides easier access.

Lamm built the new store site on the property to add to the garage which was pre-existing.

Long-time employees of the previous Burr’s location continue their service to Upshur and surrounding counties in the business along with more recent additions.

In addition to Montgomery who does sales and finance, the staff includes certified Kubota technician Nial Carpenter, certified Stihl technician Wayne Queen, parts/service coordinator Diana Vincent, parts associate Ronnie Booth and sales associate Tim Sapp.

“Nial has over 30-plus years as far as being a certified technician,” she said. “Diana has over 10 years in the service and parts industry.

“I’ve been in the farm industry for 12-plus years,” she said. “We have a lot of experience between us in parts, service and sales.”

The new location opened Dec. 6 but a grand opening celebration will be planned for the spring.

Those interested in new equipment may want to shop now for the best deals.

“Right now, we have 0 percent for 60-month financing,” Montgomery said.

State Equipment carries the major brands such as Kubota’s, Stihl, CASE, Doosan, Trailers and Implements and more.It offers new sales, rentals and, of course, parts and service.

Kubota offers walk-behind lawn and garden equipment, compact diesel 4x4, farm, hay equipment, RTVs, construction (skid seers, compact track loaders and excavators).

In Upshur and the surrounding area, hay equipment is always in demand and Montgomery said State Equipment is expanding its hay equipment and supplies needed such as twine and net wrap.

Other product expansions are also on the horizon.

“We are going to be a Gates hydraulic hose distributor starting in March,” she said. “We will also become a Byer’s distributor.

“We are looking to expand beyond that,” she said. “We can offer after-market parts.”

“Terry Lamm invested into Upshur County and the Buckhannon area,” she said. “He thought it was a good place to call home for one of his stores. It keeps local people employed.”

Store hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
