BUCKHANNON — A new child care facility offers options for busy parents. Stark Child Development Facility LLC is owned by Tiffany and Tony Stark and celebrated its expansion Friday with an open house.
The facility is licensed as a family child care facility, which means it can now care for 12 children at any given time. Stark Child Development Facility is the first daycare to achieve this in Upshur County.
“I have been doing childcare in the home for two years and decided to bump up to 12 children,” Stark said. With the family, child care facility license, all employees are mandated by the state to have background checks, CPR and first aid training and 15 hours of training annually.
The Starks renovated their downstairs to accommodate more children and will be open Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., excluding major holidays.
“It’s kind of the best of both worlds,” she said. “You get the guarantee of a daycare always being available but you also get the intimacy of having more one-on-one care with the kids.”
The employees are all family and close friends. Stark CDC has spots open for 6 weeks old and older and Upshur County Schools will provide bus service to Union, Buckhannon Academy and Island Nursery.
The facility is located at 9 Needlepoint Drive, on Route 151, just past Childers Run Crossing. The Starks invite families to stop by during operational hours, call 681-242-1177 or visit www.facebook.com/starkchildcare.
On Oct. 21, a Kids Only Halloween Party will be offered from 4-8 p.m. with games, food, a costume contest and a showing of “Monsters Inc.” Admission is $3 per child. Call to reserve a spot.
