St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary celebrates 60 years

BUCKHANNON — On Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m., the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary met for its Spring Dinner and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the auxiliary.

The auxiliary began on Wednesday, May 23, 1962. Of the 168 ladies who signed the charter, there are seven still living. They are: Twila Barlow, 82-years-old, Betty Coughlin, 94-years-old, Virginia Cerullo, 96-years-old, Catherine Phillips, 95-years-old, Pat Long, 93-years-old, Betty Weimer, 101-years-old, and Mildred White, 93-years-old. Three of these ladies, Betty Coughlin, Virginia Cerullo, and Catherine Phillips, were able to attend the meeting and were honored at the dinner.

Marilyn Walton was also honored at the dinner as Volunteer of the Year 2021-2022. Walton was honored for her outstanding service to the auxiliary. In addition, Volunteer Hour Pins were presented by President Patty McComas to the following members of the auxiliary.

Yvonne Foster: 2,000 hours

Patty McComas: 3,500 hours

Vonnie Hager: 3,500 hours

Shirley Spreaker: 2,500 hours

Penny Haymond: 100 hours

Angie Landis: 3,000 hours

Bonnie Hardman: 500 hours

Marilyn Walton: 500 hours

Mickie Anderson: 100 hours
