St. Joseph’s announces 2022 campaign

Vice President of St. Joseph’s Foundation Don Nestor speaks to those in attendance.

BUCKHANNON — St. Joseph’s Hospital presented a PowerPoint presentation during a Foundation Reception at the Brushy Fork Event Center on Thursday, June 23. The event was held to honor the 2021 campaign donors and to announce this year’s campaign, Advancing Surgical Services at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The equipment used in St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Central Sterile Department uses high temperature steam emitted at a high pressure over a designated period of time. This ensures that harmful microorganisms are eliminated through time, heat, steam and pressure. Proper care and maintenance of reusable surgical tools makes it necessary to sterilize and disinfect them before and after use. Sterilization and disinfection of steel-hardened surgical instruments like scalpels, forceps, retractors and scissors is critical since these medical tools will be used in operations.

Projects funded by the foundation include the renovation of St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Chapel for use by patients, visitors and staff, purchase of new recliners with heat and massage for the chemotherapy suite and installation of a new Nursing Call Bell system.

The main campaign goal is $100,000 and the levels of giving are as follows:

• Friend - $100

• Patron - $500

• Contributor - $1,000

• Supporter - $2,500

• Partner - $5,000

• Benefactor - $10,000

• Advocate - $10,000
