Southern States hosts successful Farm Swap

BUCKHANNON — On Saturday from 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., farmers, gardeners, and members of the community came to Southern States to buy, sell, or trade small livestock, fresh eggs, and other produce.

“I love going to these farm things around my area,” said Barbour Co. farmer Jim Weston. “You never know what kind of things you’re going to come across that you didn’t know you needed!”

Though it happens each month during the summer, this past weekend’s Farm Swap featured goats, piglets, rabbits, chickens of multiple breeds, eggs to incubate or to eat, zucchini, cucumbers, baked goods, jams and jellies.

Southern States is set to hold three more Farm Swaps this year. Stop by on August 21, September 18, and October 16 to make last minute livestock trades and stock up on some local produce and homemade goods! Questions? Call or text (304) 516-3525.
