BUCKHANNON — A local man was reportedly intoxicated when he allegedly shoved his elderly mother, causing her to fall and hit her head. Rueben Benjamin Krum, age 43, was charged with third offense domestic battery and jailed for the incident last week.
According to the criminal complaint, Krum was observed pushing his mother down inside her residence. At least two other adults and two children were present and witnessed the incident that took place at the Mount Lebanon Road home.
Court documents said the accused has two prior domestic battery convictions in Upshur County, with one dating May 27, 2010 and the other on October 7, 2014. If convicted, possible penalties for third offense domestic battery include confinement in a state correctional facility of not less than one year, nor more than five years, or fined not more than $2,500, or both. Magistrate Kay Hurst set bond in the amount of $25,000. Krum is to have no contact with the victim and must comply with random drug/alcohol testing upon release.
