Soccer Little Bucs begin season with 1-0-1 record

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buc soccer team is off to a 1-0-start to the season.

The Little Bucs tied Bridgeport by a 1-1 score during their opener back on Sept. 4 and then downed Taylor County by a 5-1 score last Monday.

Against Bridgeport, Christian Dowell scored in the 17th minute of the first half for the lone Little Buc goal.

The Little Bucs managed to get nine shots off with Dowell getting five and Zach Loudin, Noah Radabaugh, Owen Cutright and Jonas Barton one each.

Carter Zuliani and Dirk Riley shared time in the net for the Little Bucs.

Zuliani turned away three shots while Riley made three saves.

Dowell had a hat trick in the Little Bucs’ win over Taylor County.

He scored his first goal 15 minute in with the assist going to Noah Radabaugh.

Adam Stalanker put in the second goal for the Bucs, an unassisted goal, in the 25th minute.

Dowell then scored two straight unassisted goals for the Little Bucs in the 50th and 52nd minutes of the game.

Zuliani wrapped up the scoring for Buckhannon-Upshur with a goal in the 54th minute.

The Little Bucs peppered the Taylor County net with 23 shots and seven shots-on-goal.

Riley made one save in net for the Little Bucs.

Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School will host Philippi today and then travel to Weston for a contest against Robert L. Bland.
