Soccer Lady Bucs suffer first loss with 3-0 setback to Grafton

GRAFTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc soccer team suffered their first setback of the season to the Grafton Lady Bearcats here Tuesday evening in a Big 10 Conference clash.

The Lady Bucs suffered a 3-0 setback.

The Lady Bucs now own a 5-1-1 record overall and a 3-1 record in the conference.

Grafton scored early in the game as Josie Grass lofted a shot from about 30 yards out for the first goal of game.

Right before the half, Kadie Dunham gave the Lady Bearcats a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal.

Jacey Payden Morris iced the game away for Grafton in the 75th minute after playing a pass from Grass and scoring to give the Lady Bearcats their 3-0 win.

Grafton held a 7-2 advantage in shots-on-goal but Buckhannon-Upshur commanded a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Claire Coffman made four saves in net for the Lady Bucs while her counterpart, Jocelyn Countryman made two saves for Grafton.

The Lady Bucs were slated to play Liberty at home Thursday.

They will return to action Saturday when they visit Wheeling Park for a noon kick-off in a non-conference clash.
