MORGANTOWN – The Buckhannon-Upshur girls soccer team came up just short in their road battle with the Morgantown Mohigans, dropping a 2-1 decision at Pony Lewis Field in a non-conference clash.
Anna Rose Iquinto had both goals for Morgantown as she scored one early in the first half and one early in the second half.
She played a through ball down the left side of the field for her first goal and then scored on a penalty kick for her second giving Morgantown a 2-0 lead.
Buckhannon-Upshur’s goal came via the foot of Miranda Greene in the 48th minute.
Maggie Queen set her up for the goal with a pass and Greene sent it home with a shot from the right channel to the near post.
The Lady Bucs were never able though to get that game-tying goal the rest of the second half as they had to play a player down after Kennedy Samargo picked up two yellow cards.
The Lady Bucs were outshot by an 8-5 margin and trailed in corner kicks by a 3-2 margin.
