Soccer Lady Bucs build early lead against Robert C. Byrd and win 3-1

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to four games as they defeated the visiting Robert C. Byrd Eagles by a 3-1 score Tuesday night at Ted Crites Alumni Field at Tom Hasbrouck Stadium in a Big 10 Conference clash.

The Lady Bucs built a 3-0 lead at the half and then held on for the 3-1 victory.

They are now 3-0-1 in their last four games.

Following a penalty against Robert C. Byrd, Maggie Queen put the Lady Bucs on the board in the 28th minute when she found the back of the net on a penalty kick.

Cameron Zuliani made it a 2-0 game for the Lady Bucs a minute later when she scored with a goal from the top of the box with the assist going to Kierra Arbogast.

Miranda Greene added to the B-U lead in the 37th minute with a breakaway down the middle of the field and slipping a shot past Robert C. Byrd keeper Bella Rock.

Zuliani was credited with the assist.

Birkley Richards scored a goal for Robert C. Byrd in the 43rd minute as they avoided the shutout with a shot from the top of the box.

The Lady Bucs doubled up the Eagles in shots-on-goal by a 10-5 margin and owned a 3-2 lead in corner kicks.

B-U keeper Kyndal Davis made four saves while Rock turned away seven shots.

The loss dropped Robert C. Byrd to 3-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the Big 10 Conference.

The Lady Bucs improved 9-2-1 overall and remained perfect in the Big 10 Conference at 7-0-1.

They will visit Morgantown today for a 7:45 p.m. clash and will host Parkersburg South Saturday at noon.
