Soccer Lady Bobcats settle for tie with UC

CHARLESTON – All good things have to come to an end and they did for the West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat soccer team Wednesday night against the Charleston Golden Eagles in a Mountain East Conference clash.

The Lady Bobcats eight-game winning streak came to an end after they battled Charleston to a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of action.

Shots-on-goal were hard to come by for both teams as they only managed seven total as Charleston got four on goal while the Lady Bobcats tallied three. Neither team had a shot-on-goal in the first 35 minutes of the game.

Wesleyan peppered the Charleston net late in regulation as both Haelly Ramirez and Natalie Prater had nice looks but were turned away by Charleston keeper Carol Burgess.

Wesleyan wasn’t able to get a shot off in either overtime period.

Charleston owned a 3-1 lead in corner kicks.

The Lady Bobcats were called for six fouls while Charleston was whistled for five.

Chelsea Hubner played the entire game in net for Wesleyan and turned away four shots.

The tie left Charleston with a 6-6-2 record overall and a 5-2-2 mark in MEC play.

Wesleyan is now 9-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the league.

They will return to the pitch Sunday when they host Notre Dame College at 4 p.m.
