Soccer Bucs struggle to score

TENNERTON — University High School traveled to play the Buckhannon-Upshur High School boys’ soccer team on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Although they had many shots on goal and both teams played a great game, neither could secure a goal for the win.

“Today was a great match with what has been building into a respectful rivalry over the past few years. Since we’ve been in the same sectional, we’ve always had great and entertaining games,” said Coach Mike Donato.

B-UHS’ Dalton Auvil had seven saves and University’s Connor Montgomery had eight.

“Coach Michael Smith has a young and scrappy team and came out and tested us right from the start,” Coach Donato commented. “We did get Captain Julien Larcher back for this game, but we were still without Noah and Owen. We did have some young guys step up and keep us in this game.”

Coach Donato told the team that they’ve been playing very well during the past two games and they need to be ready for a good playoff push.

The Bucs are 5-7-6 for the record after this game.
