WESTON — Tyler Hollen tallied a pair of goals as the Buckhannon-Upshur boys soccer team claimed a 4-0 win over Lewis County on Tuesday evening.
Hollen scored the first two goals for the Bucs, with Joel Prats-Casado providing the assist on both.
Isaac Stankus added another score, off of Prats-Casado’s third assist, to make it 3-0 and Trevor Short added a goal in the 65th minute.
“Our finishes on our set pieces were absolutely outstanding,” said B-U coach Mike Donato. “We’ve spent a lot of time in practice working on finishing and we saw that benefit tonight.
“I was just as impressed with our defensive effort. We were able to win possession from the back and keep it, plus limit Lewis County to zero shots on goal.”
Logan Kelley had three saves for the Bucs and Ethan Haught eight for the Minutemen.
B-U had a 5-0 edge on corner kicks and were whistled for 13 fouls, compared to six against the Minutemen.
B-U is now 9-4-5 overall and 6-2-3 in Big 10 Conference games.
The Bucs were scheduled to host Elkins on Thursday night and will conclude regular-season play at 1 p.m. Saturday at home against sectional foe University.
Sectional tournament action will get underway next week.
