FAIRMONT – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team had trouble getting their offense going in a 13-2 road loss to the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears Tuesday night at East-West Stadium.

The Lady Bucs fell behind by an 8-1 score at the half with the first-half goal belonging to Miranda Greene.

Greene had the lone goal of the second half as the Lady Bucs were outscored by a 5-1 margin in that half.

“Fairmont Senior got a quick start on us and we just couldn’t recover,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jamie Greene. “We just got outplayed in the first half. The second half was better as we did some good things on both sides of the ball.”

Gaidian Adams led the defense with six ground balls while Kaylie Reed, Hannah Walton and Kendall Defibaugh each had three ground balls.

“The girls just need to come out and play for 50 minutes,” concluded Greene. “I feel we can match up to any team on our schedule if we play our best for 50 minutes.”

The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 4-2 going into Friday’s road match with George Washington.

They will play again Wednesday at Morgantown at 7:30 p.m, ending their seven-game road trip.

Following that, they will host John Marshall and Capital on Saturday at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

They will entertain John Marshall first at 11 a.m. and then Capital will follow at 2 p.m.

John Marshall and Capital will square off at 5 p.m.
