SJMH welcomes new nursing managers


WESTON — Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital has announced the addition of two managers to its Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department, Michael Stuchell, RN and Amanda Fortney, BSN, RN.

“We are thrilled to have such accomplished and seasoned nursing professionals’ step into these important management positions,” said Carole Norton, Chief Nursing Officer at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “Both Amanda in our Emergency Department and Michael in our ICU bring years of experience to their new positions. We are proud of the services we provide through both departments and our new managers will continue that exceptional care.”

Michael Stuchell, RN, is now Director of Nursing – Intensive Care Unit and manages the six-bed unit. He spent 13 years working in the ICU at both Ruby Memorial in Morgantown and United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He obtained his Associate Nursing degree from Fairmont State University and started his healthcare career as an LPN, with training from MonTech in Morgantown. Michael enjoys gardening and spending time with his canine companions, Mille and Ruto.

“Everyone has been great. The ICU crew has been very welcoming,” Michael said. “The ICU is very well run, and I look forward to continuing to support our efforts.”

Amanda Fortney, BSN, RN of Buckhannon, has assumed the position of Director of Nursing – Emergency Department.

“The atmosphere here is very personable and welcoming, and I am very excited for the opportunity to work with this group of healthcare professionals providing excellent emergency care to the members of our community,” Amanda said.

Amanda graduated from Alderson Broaddus University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Having worked at both Davis Medical Center in Elkins and United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, she has experience in emergency and critical care nursing. Her first training in healthcare was as an LPN at the Fred Eberle School in Buckhannon. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Dustin, and two children, Lucas and Elijah.
