BUCKHANNON — A Monday morning accident sends two to the hospital and remains under investigation.
According to Buckhannon Police Lieutenant Doug Loudin, witnesses explained that the driver of a 2006 Mercury Milan was traveling at an accelerated rate of speed near the Main Street exit, off Route 33. The witnesses also stated that the vehicle went airborne, hitting the embankment and striking a billboard near the railroad tracks.
Lieutenant Loudin confirmed that two occupants of the vehicle were transported by Upshur County EMS to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment. The Buckhannon Fire Department responded to the scene and the Department of Highways was on scene, helping to aid with traffic control.
The current condition of the transported patients was unknown at press time Monday.
