Shriners accept donation for children

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Shrine Club recently received a large donation that will benefit many in need.

On July 15, 2021, members of the Upshur County Shrine Club delightfully accepted a donation of $61,852 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. This donation was made by the Bennett Family Estate and will be used to help patients at Shriners Hospitals.

Shriners Hospitals for Children has a mission to provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered, and collaborative care environment. Children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services regardless of the patients’ ability to pay.

Shriners Hospitals are owned by Shriners International, which is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth with nearly 200 temples, or chapters, in several countries and thousands of clubs around the world. The fraternity is open to men of integrity from all walks of life. The donation will reportedly help many children and their families.
