Severe weather brings early close to WVSF events

BUCKHANNON — Saturday, May 21 saw more than just West Virginia Strawberry Festival fun. The day was filled with a smile-filled Grand Feature Parade, wonderful live music, laughter and fellowship.

Unfortunately, the festivities were cut short as a server storm quickly engulphed Buckhannon. The streets were packed until the storm arrived. That was when WVSF officials had to make the difficult call to suspend the activities for the safety of everyone in attendance.

Festival goers dispersed almost as quickly as they gathered. Although the storm prematurely ended the fun, the streets were filled with smiles, singing and giggles as everyone enjoyed the familiar normalcy and engagement that the festival is known for.
