Seech, Bailey, Calef-Boring pace baseball Bucs during 2019 year


TENNERTON – The 2019 Buckhannon-Upshur baseball team had three starters hit over the .320 mark during the season.

Alek Seech led the team in hitting with a .402 average while Logan Bailey owned a .340 average and Nick Calef-Boring compiled a .330 average.

Andrew Herron (.268), Tim Phillips (.268) and Cole Hoover (.252) were the three other B-U starters to hit over .250.

Seech also paced the team in doubles (9), triples (5) and walks (22).

Calef-Boring led the team in runs-batted-in (26) and hit-by-pitches (5) while Bailey had the team lead in runs (36) and Casey Hamner paced the team in home runs (4).

On the mound, Logan Whitehair led the pitching staff with the most wins (4), the best earned-run-average among starters (1.50) and tossing the most strikeouts (34).

Seech was awarded Big 10 First Team All-Conference honors while Bailey and Herron, who recorded a team-high two saves and a 0.88 earned-run-average pitching 23 1/3 innings, both were named to the Big 10 Second Team.

Calef-Boring, who didn’t receive all-conference honors, was the lone Buckhannon-Upshur representative on the 2019 West Virginia Sports Writers Association All-State Baseball Team.

The Bucs compiled a 13-18 record during the season.
