JANE LEW — Sara Jane Bailey Huntz, 66, of Lost Creek passed away peacefully at 11:03 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Clarksburg on July 18, 1950 a daughter of the late Minter J. Bailey and Lillian Layton Bailey. On Nov. 3, 1973 she married Steven Ray Huntz who will miss her dearly after 43 years of marriage.
Her strong, loving nature will be carried on by her three children: Brigetta Fisher, of Jane Lew, Valerie Jenkins and husband, Joseph, of Lost Creek, and Zachary Huntz, of Weston; one grandchild, Mauren Elizabeth Fisher; one sister, Martha Melchiorre and husband, Robert, of Palm Beach, Fla.; seven nieces and nephews: Sam Huntz, Adam Huntz, Seth Miller, Brett Miller, Andreana Trapani, Rob Melchiorre, and Andrew Melchiorre; and her loving cat, Tagger.
In her early years, Sara was a long time 4-H member who received the highest honor/award of being presented with her All Star pin. Sara earned her bachelors degree in elementary education from Fairmont State College and her master’s degree in elementary education from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
She retired from the Lewis County Board of Education after 28 years of service as a passionately devoted kindergarten teacher who was once honored and recognized as Teacher of the Year. Sara attended Johnstown / Lost Creek United Methodist churches and was a member of Johnstown United Methodist Women. She faithfully volunteered for church activities and sang in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading and crocheting. Most importantly, family was her greatest blessing in life, and she loved spending time with them especially for the holidays.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 and from 12-1 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Friday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Saundra Boley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Mt. Clare.
