Running red light results in wreck

BUCKHANNON — A rainy Wednesday morning wreck sent two to the hospital after they reportedly ran a red light and t-boned another car that had just exited the highway.

The crash occurred at 11:40 a.m. at the Route 33 underpass intersection on Route 20 North.  According to Nathan Allen, the 18-year-old driver of a gray Ford Fusion Titanium edition, the light turned green for the vehicles waiting on the exit ramp and the car in front of him made it through.  Allen said he was the next car in line to cross the intersection and stated, “then they ran the light and hit me.”  The young driver declined medical treatment at the scene but said he would probably be sore tomorrow due to the severe impact.

The two occupants of the black Kia Soul were transported from the scene by Upshur EMS.  Their identity and conditions were still unknown at press time. Buckhannon Police Department investigated the accident assisted by the Buckhannon Fire Department, along with WV Department of Highways personnel providing traffic control.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
