Rollover wreck sends woman to hospital

BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon woman was transported to the hospital following a single vehicle accident that transpired Tuesday.

Cheryl Sue Hacker, age 54, of Buckhannon was reportedly traveling east bound on Old Elkins Road Route 151 when she lost control of a red 2003 Ford Ranger. According to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department investigation, the truck rolled over an embankment and struck a tree. The residents of the property called 911 and were quickly able to get help on the way to Hacker.

Upon arriving on scene, Buckhannon Fire Department assessed the situation and deemed it necessary to remove a door to gain access to Hacker, who was entrapped and injured in the accident. Upshur County EMS personnel were able to stabilize the patient for transport to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The extent of Hacker’s injuries is unknown, and no update on her condition was available.

UCSD investigating officer Sgt. R.S. Rolenson was on scene and began investigating immediately. Skid marks were reportedly evident as Hacker braked in attempt to avoid the crash. Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department was also on scene to assist in any way needed. The vehicle was removed from the scene due to disabling damage by S&L Towing.
