Robinson, Rohr, Gaudet pace softball Lady Bucs to an 18-12 season

Alyssa Rohr led the team in hitting with a .495 average and paced the pitching staff as well, posting a 10-5 record with a earned-run-average of 1.49. The Lady Bucs ended the year with an 18-12 record.

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur softball team lit it up at the plate this past 2019 season hitting the ball at an impressive .330 clip.

They had five regulars hit over the .315 mark.

Freshman Alyssa Rohr led the team in batting average with an impressive .495 average while senior Alli Robinson hit .457 and senior Audrey Gaudet was the other Lady Buc over .400 with a .402 average.

Freshman Shelby McDaniels and sophomore Ciara Melton were the other two Lady Bucs over .315 with McDaniels hitting .379 and Melton cranking out a .316 average.

Robinson led the team in home runs with 11 and runs-batted-in with 48 and also paced the team in runs with 48, doubles with 13 and walks with 23.

The 11 home runs and 48 RBIs were the most ever in a single season by a B-U player.

Rohr had a team-high four triples while Brooklyn Bryant and Brooklyn Robinson had the dubious stat of being hit by a pitch the most times at five.

Rohr was also the ace of the pitching staff compiling a 10-5 record with one save in 17 starts.

She appeared in 19 games, pitching 85 1/3 innings striking out 74 batters.

She posted a 1.49 earned-run-average.

Ciara Melton handled almost the rest of the pitching duties seeing action in 15 games with 10 starts.

She posted a 7-5 record with one save tossing 63 1/3 innings striking out 38 while posting a 1.97 earned-run-average.

Buckhannon-Upshur piled up the post season awards after an 18-12 season.

At the Big 10 Conference level, Robinson was named the Player of the Year, while Rohr garnered First Team honors and Gaudet was named to the Second Team.

That same trio received all-state honors as well.

Robinson was named to the First Team, Rohr the Second Team and Gaudet was tabbed for the Honorable Mention Team.
