ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Rev. Ralph James Stevenson, 69, of Macungie, Pa. passed away January 15, 2018 in the Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of Christal (Wentz) Stevenson. They were married for 46 years last May. Ralph was called to be a pastor at a young age. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Ralph served churches since 1969, during college a seven-charge church in West Virginia, while attending seminary at St. John’s UMC, Ivyland, Pa., at Washington Crossing UMC, Washington Crossing, Pa., Neshamony UMC, Hulmeville, Pa., Canadensis UMC, Canadensis, Pa. and Bethany UMC, Wescosville, Pa. Born in Shamokin, Pa., he was the son of Mary (Salvatore) Stevenson of Shamokin and the late Ralph Thomas Stevenson. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, W.Va. and Drew University in Madison, N.J. He was involved in ecumenical groups in Bucks and Monroe county, a member of the Rotary Club, served on the board of the Barrett Library in Mountainhome, Pa., directed youth and senior citizen camps for several years at Pocono Plateau and was a member of the Washington District Fire Company in Tallmansville, W.Va. Ralph loved his family and enjoyed being with his friends.
Survivors: wife, mother, son: Russell Stevenson and his wife Tabitha of Glenside, Pa., daughter: Emily Stevenson Gren and her husband Matt of Allentown, sister: Beth Scott of Downingtown, Pa., grandsons: Brayden and Caleb Stevenson of Glenside, Pa., sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Thomas Stevenson and his father and mother-in-law: John and Sadie Wentz.
A Celebration of Life Worship Service was held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church 1208 Brookside Road, Wescosville. A burial will be held this summer in West Virginia. Arrangements by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
