JANE LEW — Reverend Clyde Harold Gidley, 95, of Clarksburg Rd. Buckhannon passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born in Kingwood on Dec. 14, 1921 a son of the late Charles Junior Dayton Gidley and Judith Ann Ruble Gidley.
In 1963 he married Maxine Lydia Butcher and they celebrated 37 years of marriage before her passing in December of 2000. On Jan. 18, 2003 he married Lillian Dorothy Hardman Gidley who will miss him dearly after 14 years of marriage.
He is also survived by one daughter, Gypsie Ann Hufnagle and husband, Jerry, of The Woodlands, Texas; two grandchildren: Amanda Sutton and husband, Eric, of Sugarland, Texas, and Todd Hufnagle and wife, Ava, of Barcelona, Spain; two great-grandchildren: Lilly Ann Sutton and Ava Sutton; six stepchildren: Beverly Jones, of Buckhannon, Becky Groggs, of Buckhannon, Ernie Richards and wife, Lura, of Glenville, Rick Richards and wife, Mariah, of Morgantown, and Jason Richards and wife, Alicia, of Buckhannon; 17 stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and former wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Gidley; and one stepson, Kenny Richards.
Clyde was an honored veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated Gidley Alumni and Sales for many years, and later retired from the Lewis County Board of Education transportation department where he was a bus driver for 20 years. He was a devoted minister of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ for 75 years. He enjoyed visiting and helping friends in need and singing with the residents at nursing homes.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. from the pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Glen Riggleman and Brother Dennis Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
