Record turnout for Ride 2 Survive

ELLAMORE — The Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department’s 5th Annual Ride 2 Survive event was a tremendous success. The off-road adventure turned out to be the biggest ride yet, as participation reportedly grows each year.

A total of 182 ATV and UTVs registered and approximately 400 riders came out to venture through the mud and along the 50-mile trail.  Participants hailed from five states, including West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey.

The fire department fundraised a grand total of $6,892.43 from registration fees, donations, event t-shirt and raffle sales. The money will go towards their goal of $30,000 to buy a new cascade system, which is used to refill Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) bottles. They are hoping to reach their financial goal by next year.

The ride started at Ellamore Bridge to Cassidy to Queens and then circled back to Ellamore Bridge.

The next Ride 2 Survive event is tentatively scheduled for September 26.
