Pizza or gyros? New restaurant plans to offer both

Alfredo's Italian and Greek Restaurant is coming soon to the former Bennett's Steakhouse location in Tennerton.

TENNERTON — Pizza or gyros? This is the question people in Buckhannon may have to ask themselves soon at a new restaurant. A new restaurant is coming to Buckhannon soon. Gharib Makruda the owner of Alfredo’s is putting a new location in the old Bennett’s Steakhouse building. Alfredo’s Italian and Greek Restaurant is a family establishment and Makruda said Greek food has been in demand. “We saw the demand,” Makruda said. “People were asking for it and we want to give them good food.”

He said the Greek dishes will be something different each day like dinner specials, gyros and they would also have classic deserts like spanakopita and baklava.

Alfredo’s has four other locations across West Virginia including, Summersville, Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs and Marlinton.

“We have been in the restaurant business for 30 years,” Makruda said. “We used to have locations in different states but we decided we wanted to focus on one area and that’s how we ended up in West Virginia. Now we just love it here and that’s why we wanted to have a location in Buckhannon.”

He said some of his most popular dishes at his other locations include the chicken alfredo, the spicy chicken and his steak sandwiches.

“Let me tell you, I guarantee we have the best steak sandwich in West Virginia; you really have to try it,” Makruda said.

He said the building has been undergoing renovations in preparation for its opening.

“We’ve been working for months to get ready in this building and we can’t wait to open the doors,” Makruda said.

He said the new restaurant will be looking to hire wait staff, but no one in the kitchen.

“We’re going to need some servers, but no one for the kitchen,” Makruda said. “We can’t trust anyone in the kitchen except family.”

An opening date has not been set for Alfredo's Italian and Greek Restaurant, but Makruda said he hopes to open soon.

Makruda said the atmosphere and dress code is casual and very family friendly. They are going to be open seven days a week and their hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
