Phyllis Meeks Wilfong

Phyllis Meeks Wilfong, age 89, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Stonerise Nursing Home in Clarksburg, W.Va. She was born July 27, 1933 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Forman and Nora Kittle Reed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Eugene Meeks; second husband, Gerald Ellis Wilfong; eight siblings: Ray Reed, Corbin Reed, Evelyn Miller, Charles Reed, Freeman Reed, Willard “Doggie” Reed, Jerry Reed and Marion Boothe.

She is survived by two sons: Rick Meeks and wife Debby, of Buckhannon, and Ken Meeks and wife Stephanie, of Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons: Russ Meeks and wife Coralee, of Buckhannon, and Chris Meeks, of Morgantown, W.Va.; two granddaughters: Rebecca Argento and husband Jack, and Margaret Meeks, all of Columbus; three great-grandsons: Gavin, Carter and Sawyer Meeks, all of Buckhannon; two sisters: Naomi “Beanie” Criss, of Buckhannon, and Rose Hughes, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a special brother-in-law Tom Boothe, of Buckhannon.

Mrs. Wilfong loved reading and was a literacy volunteer. She enjoyed painting, crafts and spending time with family, especially the grandkids. In her younger years, she was a champion bowler. 

Friends will be received Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
