Phyllis Meeks Wilfong, age 89, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Stonerise Nursing Home in Clarksburg, W.Va. She was born July 27, 1933 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Forman and Nora Kittle Reed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Eugene Meeks; second husband, Gerald Ellis Wilfong; eight siblings: Ray Reed, Corbin Reed, Evelyn Miller, Charles Reed, Freeman Reed, Willard “Doggie” Reed, Jerry Reed and Marion Boothe.
She is survived by two sons: Rick Meeks and wife Debby, of Buckhannon, and Ken Meeks and wife Stephanie, of Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons: Russ Meeks and wife Coralee, of Buckhannon, and Chris Meeks, of Morgantown, W.Va.; two granddaughters: Rebecca Argento and husband Jack, and Margaret Meeks, all of Columbus; three great-grandsons: Gavin, Carter and Sawyer Meeks, all of Buckhannon; two sisters: Naomi “Beanie” Criss, of Buckhannon, and Rose Hughes, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a special brother-in-law Tom Boothe, of Buckhannon.
Mrs. Wilfong loved reading and was a literacy volunteer. She enjoyed painting, crafts and spending time with family, especially the grandkids. In her younger years, she was a champion bowler.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
