Pat’s Chat "many things"

So many things are happening at once – strange weather patterns, political speeches everywhere, tornados, criminal activity, only an occasional good news feature.  Makes my head swim.

Then I go to church and find out that all of this and that much more horrible things are going to be happening.  As I said last week, just read Matthew 24 and read what is happening as many of us are waiting for the second coming of Jesus.  Even in the earliest days of Earth’s history we are told that Jesus is coming with “ten thousand of His saints” Jude 1:14. This cannot mean the first coming because He came as babe with no angels accompanying except the angels who sang to the shepherds that night.

Most everyone feels that something is going to happen, and most people are frightened.  I wish all of you could have come to our Sabbath school during the first quarter of 2020 entitled “Daniel.” It is helping us learn the meaning of the time prophecies.  When Jesus came to this earth because “God so loved the world that he GAVE His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life” (paraphrased by me) John 3:16, the first three and one half years of His ministry He spent especially for the Jews, then the next three and one half years, the apostles also went especially to the Jews.  It was not until after Stephen was stoned to death that the gospel concentrated on bringing the good news especially to the Gentiles as well as every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.

Jesus went back to the original, true tabernacle or sanctuary in Heaven, to cleanse it.  On the Day of Atonement up until Jesus died on the cross, God’s people went to the earthly sanctuary once a year and killed the sacrifice, representing the sacrifice that Jesus would make when He died on the cross.  Once Jesus died on the cross, the big curtain in the earthly sanctuary ripped without (visible) hands from TOP to bottom, showing that there needed to be no more such literal sacrifices because the REAL sacrifice had occurred when Jesus died on the cross.  In the earthly sanctuary, once a year the sanctuary had to be cleaned out so that all the sins would be gone.  Jesus is now in the sanctuary as our High Priest, so we can come to Him ourselves now for forgiveness.  He is also cleansing all the sins from the REAL sanctuary in heaven as well as from our body temple (I John  1:9), because we are told that when He comes back to get us He will have our rewards with Him and He will reward everyone according to his work, (“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.  Revelation 22:12.) So, we have already been judged when He comes because our reward is with Him.

If you have studied prophecies, you know that in a prophecy of time we use a day to be a year (Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6 show examples of that).  In the longest time prophecy spoken of in the Bible, the 2,300-day prophecy was 2,300 years, and it speaks of seventy weeks (490 years) being cut off for thy people unto Messiah the Prince.  Since Messiah means the anointed one, that is when Jesus was baptized and anointed by the Holy Spirit.  Then the Messiah would make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness.  “Messiah would be cut off but not for himself” (AD 31) when He was crucified.  (See Daniel 9:24 through 26.)  Not for Himself, because He never sinned.  He was “cut off” for all of us, so our sins could be forgiven.

I have probably confused you, but these studies make me so happy.  I found this site where you can get a free magazine that may help you understand what I have tried to say:

I overslept this morning and it will take time for me to be comfortable with the time change.
