Pat’s Chat (June 2)

Memorial Day Weekend and the Burnsville High School Alumni reunion, all in the same weekend! I am just now beginning to feel the relief that my sister’s celebration of life is over, except for the thank you notes Robin is helping me to write and send to our many friends and family, who have given so generously in lieu of flowers or food for the celebration. I am overwhelmed by all those who have been so kind in remembering Mary Ann. She would have been so pleased by your outpouring of love. (I have left myself very little time to write a Chat.)

Chuck, my son, went with me, in fact drove to Burnsville. I had played the piano at Sabbath School and church today to add to Sheri’s excellent organ and enjoyed the worship service. I also really enjoyed just being with my son as we traveled to Burnsville and back. We attended the program in the auditorium. It was fun to hear Mary Ann’s friends and family mention things they remember about her. I couldn’t do it. There was not just one memory, but 80 years worth of memories and I could not pick just one.

Our new young pastor believes that if we can get together more often and get to know and love each other, we will be better witnesses for Jesus’ love to those around us. He helps our committee plan for one Saturday evening meeting each month, the first Saturday evening. First there was a Crazy Hair/Crazy Hat night, then a Flower Power “70s” evening, and now for June 4, it will be a beach bash. Game night and Pina Coladas for all ages and you certainly do not have to be a Seventh-day-Adventist to attend. We want to get to know our fellow Buckhannon-ites! It will be held at our church, 1122 Brushy Fork Road.

You can also join us for Prayer Line on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. on Zoom line. Bonnie does a short devotional reading. Our Zoom number is 96120157208. If you don’t have Zoom, just call 1-301-715-8592#. In fact, you can use the same numbers to join our Prayer Meeting each Wednesday night at 7 p.m. or our Sabbath School after Dark on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. or our Saturday Sabbath School at 10:15 a.m. and Church Service at 11:15 a.m.
