We had a lovely Sabbath service on April 17. Randall Murphy of Grafton was the speaker and he told the Children’s Story then kept our attention through the sermon.
I never knew Elder Murphy until we moved to Kansas City, and he was pastor of our church there. He and his sweet wife, Martha (“Marty”), were both from Grafton. When we ended up moving back to West Virginia, Elder Murphy was President of the West Virginia conference, (Mountain View Conference of Seventh-day Adventists). He became dear to our whole family, performing marriage and burying our dead. He became “our” pastor.
He has retired and moved back to their hometown, Grafton, and a few weeks ago Marty died. That was so sad to hear. I was happy when he accepted an invitation to speak at our Buckhannon church. It was good to see and hear him again. If you would like to hear and see that sermon and children’s story, just go to Buckhannon Seventh-day Adventist Church | Facebook and the first livestreaming service should be for April 17, 2021. I hope you will enjoy it and let me know so that I can give him a report of the responses to his message.
Of course, you can tune in every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for the Sabbath School or the sermon at 11:30. Several people are attending the church that day both in the facility using the distancing, masks and other protocols for safety. So far, I am sticking to the virtual service. Not everyone wears masks, I am told. I will feel safer when everyone is masked, unless speaking from the rostrum or something like that.
I am surprised that several people in our community, family, and friends, will not get the vaccine. Some of them say it is because of the things that are included in the vaccine. I wonder what they would have done if they were blind and to heal them Jesus used His own saliva (spit) and clay off the ground. John 9:6 & 7: “When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.’ (Which is translated, Sent).’ So, he went and washed, and came back seeing.” NKJV. Jesus has a part in making the treatments for His children. He has a part in developing the vaccines.
Jesus is called The Great Physician.
