One life-flighted following car versus pedestrian accident

BUCKHANNON — An incident on Wednesday evening resulted in one individual being life flighted to a trauma center after being struck by a vehicle.

According to West Virginia State Trooper First Class F. J. Turansky, the pedestrian was walking North on Route 20 when the vehicle hit them traveling South on Route 20 at approximately 7 p.m.

In addition to West Virginia State Police, the Buckhannon Fire Department and Upshur County EMS responded to the scene. Both lanes of Route 20 were temporarily closed for further investigation. Traffic was redirected by way of Pringle Tree Road and Knob Vista Road.

The victim’s status was unavailable press time and the investigation is still on going. More information will be made available via release from the WVSP.
