Officers respond to Morton Ave, Rt. 33 intersection accident

BUCKHANNON — On Friday, April 22, Upshur Comms Center received a call regarding a two-vehicle accident near the Morton Avenue exit on Route 33.

Buckhannon Police Officer James Fisher responded and was the investigating officer. According to the official police report, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Robert Lee Pratt Jr., age 51 of Roanoke, W. Va., attempted to pull out from the intersection of Morton Avenue and Route 33. Pratt Jr. stated that he had pulled out after stopping at the stop sign and did not see the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder SL, driven by John Carter, age 25 of Elkins.

Carter was driving East on Route 33 when Pratt Jr. pulled out and struck the side of the Nissan Pathfinder. Pratt Jr. had no passengers in his vehicle, while Carter had a second adult and three children present in his vehicle.

In addition to Buckhannon City Police, other first responders included the West Virginia State Police, Upshur County Emergency Medical Services and the Buckhannon Fire Department. There were no injuries reported, but one airbag did deploy in the Nissan Pathfinder.
