BUCKHANNON — The Moose Lodge will be home to a new restaurant as of Monday. A&L Country Kitchen owners Angelina Warner and Lana Luby said they have been in the restaurant business for 20 years and wanted to pursue their goal to own a restaurant.
“We love the public,” Luby said. “We’re both people persons and we have both been in this line of business for 20-plus years, so we just came into a position where we decided to go in on our dream to own our own restaurant.”
A&L Country Kitchen is inside the Moose Lodge but is not exclusive to members. Luby said she thinks the Moose is a good place to start their new business.
“We kind of threw ourselves into this real fast, so it’s really easy to find,” Luby said. “It’s right in the middle of town and it has a lot of equipment already here, so it was a good place to start.”
The Country Kitchen is going to offer food all day starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. seven days a week. The eatery will have classic breakfast dishes all day, such as pancakes, waffles, eggs and biscuits and gravy. Lunchtime will offer sandwiches and burgers, while dinner will feature classic dishes such as meatloaf and liver and onions. The owners said they want to experiment with other dishes once the groundwork has been laid for the restaurant.
“We have chosen a few things to put on the menu that no one in town here has tried,” Luby said. “We have different ideas we have thrown together that we really want people to try.”
Another plan is to offer food delivery to small businesses once Country Kitchen is established, and the owners said they will be honoring military, college and senior citizen discounts. For more information, contact A&L Country Kitchen at 304-472-2442.
