BUCKHANNON — Local law enforcement gained a new comrade this week when Deputy Austin Nestor was officially sworn into the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday morning by 26th Judicial Circuit Judge Kurt Hall.
Deputy Nestor is originally from Tucker County, West Virginia. He is a recent graduate from Davis & Elkins College, where he received his associate’s degree in Criminology.
Deputy Nestor stated that he chose to become a police officer to “help people and change their views on police.” He chose Upshur County because he wanted to move to a different county and “start fresh.”
He is looking forward to doing his job and meeting new people. Deputy Nestor has not completed the Police Academy yet, but he is anticipating doing that soon.
