Nesbitt has 19 as JV Lady Bucs cruise past Elkins, 49-31

TENNERTON – Alayna Nesbitt scored 19 points for the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs to lead them to a 49-31 win over the visiting Elkins Tigers Tuesday evening at the high school.

The Lady Bucs raced out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in their 18-point victory.

Lexi Kelley had the hot hand for the Lady Bucs in the first quarter scoring all 11 of her points in her lone quarter of play.

Nesbitt added a basket as well for the Lady Bucs in the first quarter.

The Lady Bucs went cold in the second quarter losing it by an 11-3 score.

The only second-quarter scoring belonged to Nesbitt who had a basket and Leah Moore added a free throw.

Buckhannon-Upshur still led at the break by a 16-13 score.

The Lady Bucs had a huge third quarter scoring 25 points.

They outscored Elkins by a 25-13 margin with Nesbitt scoring eight points, Olivia Ellis and Moore six each, McKinley Bonnett hitting a trey and Brooklyn Bryant adding a basket.

That treated the Lady Bucs to a 41-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Bucs won the last quarter by an 8-5 margin with Nesbitt scoring seven points and Moore one.

Following Nesbitt in the scoring column for the Lady Bucs were Kelley with 11 and Moore with eight.

Alexandra Triplett had eight points to lead Elkins.

The Lady Bucs, now 10-8 on the season, will host Wheeling Park Friday at 5:45 p.m.
