Nathan Beckner Memorial Blood Drive

BUCKHANNON — The Nathan Beckner Memorial Blood Drive will be hosting their last drive of this year from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. It will be held at the Way of Holiness Church located at Rt. 33 West, Old Weston Road.

The Nathan Beckner Memorial Blood Drive hosts three blood drives each year with the first in February, the second in June and the third in October. Since the drive began, there have been more than 450 donors, touching over 1,320 lives. Many of the donors are first time donors who donate in honor of Nate’s memory.

Appointments are preferred for planning of staff and supplies, however walk-ins will be accepted on a space available basis. The Facebook event page for the Nathan Beckner Memorial Blood Drive further describes the details, what is required to be a donor, and how to schedule an appointment, which is listed below.

Scheduling is available at redcrossblood.org, or by commenting on the event page, messaging Charla Quick Stemple directly or contacting (270) 363-5433. Please do not call the church office for info.

Stemple can help answer general questions about donation eligibility and the donation process. Or you can visit redcrossblood.org for additional help.

General Donation Requirements:

• Ages 16 and up are eligible to donate blood. Minimum height and weight restrictions apply. Donors aged 16 only must have a parent or guardian present at the time of their donation.

• Proof of identity and age is required at the time of donation. This could be a Red Cross donor ID card, driver’s license or learner’s permit, or military ID.

• If none of the above are available, you may bring two forms of the following: birth certificate, social security card, student or employment ID, library card or hunting/fishing license. Please message Stemple if needed for other accepted documents.

Please allow one hour for a single donation and an hour and half for a Power Red donation (also known as a double donation).

All blood types are needed! Your selfless gift could save up to three lives! Please share and invite your friends or share the group and events on your timeline! Thank you in advance for your love and support!
