WESTON — The Museum of American Glass in West Virginia, located in Weston, will be holding three raffles as part of a national museum event, “Museum Store Sunday.” Tickets are available now until the day of the event on November 29.

The first raffle includes an item from WV Glass Specialty Company, donated anonymously. The piece is a red-striped twisted glass cane, valued from $300-500. Tickets are available at $20 a piece.

The second raffle includes a one-of-a-kind vase called “Roaring River,” donated by Ron Hinkle, a Buckhannon glass crafter. The value of the blue and green vase is $500, with tickets also available at $20 each.

The last raffle, “Your Choice Raffle,” consists of 18 items of various glassware, such as dishes, vases and paperweights. Tickets for these items are $5 each or five tickets for $20. Most items are from West Virginia businesses or residents. Some pieces come with additional items, like gift cards or drinks. Items can be viewed on the “Museum of American Glass in West Virginia” Facebook page.

Due to COVID-19, they are unable to host regular annual fundraisers as in years past, such as the Chocolate Lovers Feast and Glass Auctions. Proceeds from the raffles will help fund “Phase #2” of their three-phase remodel project. The second phase will be to redesign their information desk, which needs to raise $7,500 to match a grant. The third phase will be to redo the flooring, as Weston’s Museum of American Glass has been chosen for inclusion in a Smithsonian tour next fall.

The museum offers free admission and required face coverings. They also ask visitors to follow safe, social distancing guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The drawings will be held Sunday, November 29 at 3 p.m. and participants do not need to be present to win; instead they will be called on Monday, November 30.
