Maxwell fires in 24 points as JV Little Lady Bucs cruise


FAIRMONT – Kenna Maxwell poured in 24 points here Monday night to pace the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs to a 46-17 junior varsity victory over West Fairmont’s Lady Polar Bear Cubs.

It was the third straight win for coach Tiffany Board’s Little Lady Bucs, hiking their record to 4-2 going into the Christmas break. They will return to action Jan. 3, traveling to Weston to battle Robert L. Bland’s Lady Patriots.

Buckhannon jumped into an 8-2 lead in the opening quarter on five points by Maxwell, a bucket by Callie Lantz and Kendal Currence’s charity throw.

With Maxwell firing in eight markers, Currence canning four, Gabriella Parke adding two and Anna Grace Lantz chipping in with a free throw, the Little Lady Bucs went on a 16-4 spree in the second period to romp into a 24-6 halftime lead.

They claimed the third stanza by a 11-7 margin, with Maxwell tallying five more, and Currence, Kyndal Davis and Callie Lantz tossing in two apiece.

Maxwell banged in six markers, Currence and Davis had two each and Callie Lantz contributed a foul shot to give the final canto to Buckhannon, 11-6.

Following Maxwell in the scoring column were Currence with nine points, Callie Lantz with six, Davis with four, Parke with two and Anna Grace Lantz with one.
