Mary Perkins, age 94, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Monday, October 31, 2022 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born January 6, 1928, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph and Mae Collins Cassell. On April 9, 1949, she married Guy Foley Perkins, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2006.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Perkins.
She is survived by five daughters: Marie Chestnut and husband Bernard, of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., Jacqueline Wamsley and husband Michael, of Buckhannon, Jean Smallridge and husband Nolan, of Ten Mile, W.Va., Edith Given and husband Johnny, of Buckhannon, and Patricia Zickefoose, of Buckhannon; two sons: Guy Perkins, Jr. and wife Wanda, of Sanford, Fla., and Virgil Perkins and wife Susan, of Ivy, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Shelly McLaughlin, of Cass, W.Va.; and one brother, Chester Cassell and wife Ann, of N.C.
Mrs. Perkins was a Christian and a homemaker.
Friends will be received Friday, November 4, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Philippi, W.Va. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
