Elder (Rebecca); grandchildren, Anthony and Sarah Bowie and Lucy Elder; siblings, Margaret Hefner, Patricia Bumgarner Van Tromp (Johnnie) and John Slaughter (Pam); half-siblings, Susan, Debbie, Mike and Kenneth; brothers-in-law, Lyle Elder (Nita), John Elder (Vondell), Delbert Elder (Kathy) and Gary McIntyre; sisters-in-law, Esther Winland, June Jones (Joe), Carmen Powell (Hal) and Beth Hess (John).

Mary was from Buckhannon, West Virginia and graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School. She had worked at St. Mary’s Food Giant, McDonalds and Shop ’n Save. She was the “Beloved Lunch Lady” at North Pleasants Christian School and respected by all the students.
Mary’s grandchildren held a tremendous portion of her heart. She truly loved them and was constantly doing things for them and with them. Mary lived her life by the words of Act 20:35 where Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” She spent a great amount of her life crocheting and donating her beautiful afghans to nursing homes, hospice, unwed mothers, Ronald McDonald House, and various other charities. When Mary was doing something for others, she was extremely happy and fulfilled. She was genuinely, selfless, and a beautiful human being who was always giving and never expecting anything in return.
