SALEM — Mary Lynn Girod, 77, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 30, 1939 in Gilmore County; the daughter of the late Shirley Norman and Lucy (Wyatt) Norman.Mary is survived by three daughters, Patty Shields and her husband, John, Kathryn Bland and her husband, Roger and Linda Zifka, all of Salem; a son, Carl Girod and his wife, Christina of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, John Bland, Brian Bland, Amy Bland, Kenny Bland, James Bland, Tim Kelley, Matthew Kelley and Angelena Zifka; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Hendershot of Salem; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward David Girod, who died in 2003; two brothers, Arley Norman and Burl Norman.Mary was a homemaker and the greatest mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren especially during the holiday seasons.
Family received friends at Greathouse Funeral Home, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 3 – 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Greathouse Funeral Home today, Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chad Ash, presiding.
