Maniac Mountain hosts Independence Day celebration

BUCKHANNON — Upshur County had a very busy Fourth of July. With several different events going on over the weekend, residents were stretched near and far. However, if locals were able to attend Maniac Mountain’s festivities on Sunday, July 3, they sure had a blast!

Many out-of-towners and local residents came out to enjoy the 350-foot slip n’ slide hand-built by the owning families, bouncy houses for the children, Zul’s Frozen Lemonade and other vendors. People in attendance were also entertained by DJ Salty Dog, other music, raffles and an enormous firework display.

With the hour-long firework show, spectators had nothing but wonderful things to say about the experience. The display kicked-off at dark with what most would describe as a regular grand finale. Throughout the entire show, more and more fireworks began shooting off and lighting up the sky with their beautiful colors and shapes. The actual grand finale lasted a total of 10 to 15 minutes in length and was rated by many as the most amazing display.

One person in attendance described it as the most amazing show they had ever seen, “No other display has ever come close to what I just experienced! I will come back to Maniac Mountain ever year for Independence Day.”

Another expressed, “It was just the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life! If you weren’t there, then you wouldn’t understand.”

Thank you to Bobby Wagner, Adam and Josh Ringer, and their families for creating such a memorable and fun day for this holiday. It is said, next year’s celebration will be even bigger!
