Lorna Ann Hornbeck Taylor

Lorna Ann Hornbeck Taylor, age 69, died September 24, 2022 in Vacaville, Calif. Born February 11, 1953 in Clarksburg W.Va., she was a native of Buckhannon, W.Va. and the daughter of the late Duffy Cutright Hornbeck, Jr. and Elizabeth Dutton Hornbeck Van Kirk.

As an early pioneer in the computer technology industry, Ann was a member of the software development team for Wordstar, the world’s first microcomputer word processing software program. She later served as a member of the architectural design software quality control group for Autodesk, followed by advisory roles with early-stage startup ventures.

Always a free spirit, Ann was most interested in helping the socially disadvantaged and the underserved members of her community through her volunteer work to serve those who suffered from food insecurity, homelessness and personal abuse.

She loved to dance, to swim, to run on the beach with her dogs, to cuddle her cats, to have esoteric conversations and to laugh, laugh, laugh.

Surviving are two daughters: Angela Eldredge Cope and husband Robin, of Vacaville, Calif., and Jessica Eldredge Knutson and husband Aaron, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and five grandchildren: Karlie Knutson, of Davis, Calif., Olivia Knutson, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Benjamin Cope, Anna Cope and Cameron Cope, of Vacaville, Calif..
