Local physician overcomes cancer, begins career close to home

BRIDGEPORTKirstie Cutlip, MD was born and raised in Buckhannon, WV. The daughter of Todd and Lisa Cutlip, Kirstie received her elementary, middle, and high school education in Upshur County Schools. She attended the now-closed Central Elementary School, Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, and Buckhannon-Upshur High School.

After her graduation from B-UHS Summa Cum Laude, Kirstie attended West Virginia University, studying in the Honors College as a Biology Major. Initially considering pharmacy as a career, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from WVU in 2013, having gained entry to the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

She began her medical education in the summer of 2013, considering a career in anesthesiology. After completing her clinical rotations in Charleston, WV, she elected to pursue Obstetrics & Gynecology. She successfully matched to her top choice residency program in OB/GYN at WVU and graduated with her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2017.

Kirstie was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer just prior to the start of her residency in the summer of 2017. After complete surgical treatment during her first week of residency, Kirstie continued on to complete her 4-year training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in June 2021. Having been born and raised in West Virginia, Kirstie knew she wanted to start her career close to home, and is currently practicing in the Bridgeport, WV area.
