Local man jailed for soliciting a minor

BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon man remains jailed with a $25,000 cash bond for allegedly soliciting a minor in Upshur County.

According to court documents, Magistrate Alan Suder issued a warrant on July 9, 2021 for the arrest of 30-year-old Terry Forest Evans. The criminal complaint alleged that the accused solicited a 15-year-old girl for sexually explicit photos and videos via text last year. Evans also reportedly sent the juvenile a sexually explicit picture of himself.

West Virginia Code states any person over the age of 18, who knowingly attempts to solicit, entice, seduce or lure a minor known to be at least four years younger than the offender into an illegal act, is guilty of a felony.

If convicted, Evans faces 2-10 years in prison and/or a fine not more than $5,000. The accused requested a court appointed attorney to represent him at arraignment on July 16. Evans remains incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash only bond set by Magistrate Mark Davis.
