Local man arrested for possession of meth

BUCKHANNON — Dusty Lee Williams, age 41 of Adrian, has been arrested and if facing a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine following a traffic stop on Thursday, April 21.

The criminal complaint revealed that Upshur County Sherriff’s Deputy Cole Bender observed a white Subaru Forester with a headlight out. Blue lights were initiated after Deputy Bender followed the vehicle from the stoplight at Buckhannon Crossroads to Liggett Addition. The driver of the vehicle was then identified as Dusty Lee Williams, who did not have a license nor did his female passenger.

Lieutenant Marshall Powers also arrived on the scene and questioned Williams if he had anything illegal on him. At that time, Williams allegedly took out a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine and a small baggie of marijuana. Following a search of the vehicle, a glass smoking device with white residue was allegedly found, as well as a make shift gold smoking device with the odor or marijuana emitting from it. The Upshur Comm Center reported that the defendant’s license had been suspended secondary to an unpaid citation. Williams received a citation for Possession of Methamphetamine and for Driving While Suspended for unpaid citation in the first offense.

Williams remains jailed at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $6,000 cash only bond.
