Local firefighters receive “Stork Pins” at Council meeting

BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon City Council held their weekly meeting on Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. Firefighters from the Buckhannon Fire Department were recognized and received pins from Mayor Robbie Skinner.

Mayor Skinner invited recognized guest Buckhannon Fire Department Chief J.B. Kimble to the podium. Chief Kimble stated, “With all tragedy and negative stuff going on in our country and media right now. I really feel good about bringing this positive pinning to the council tonight. So, when you think about the fire department you think all we do is fight fire and go to some bad car wrecks, but in the last couple of months we have assisted in delivering babies. One event was a set of twins and one was a single. So, as per tradition, everybody that is involved in that gets a stork pin to put on their uniform.”

Chief Kimble asked the firefighters in attendance to come up and be recognized. Those in attendance at the meeting included Firefighters First Class Maggie Petitto, Ethan Smith and Tanner Smith, who were all given their pins by Mayor Skinner. In addition, Mayor Skinner presented pins to Chief Kimble to deliver to the other firefighters who assisted with the deliveries.

Chief Kimble noted that the additional firefighters included Captain Linn Baxa and Firefighters First Class John Brugnoli, Alex Ellis and Devon Landis. Probationary Firefighter Maria Potter will receive two stork pins as she assisted in both deliveries.
