TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs opened their season with a 4-0 win over Taylor County and then followed that up with another 4-0 victory over Fairmont West.

Against Taylor County, Ava Hollen scored three times while Alivia Barton scored once in the victory.

Against Fairmont West, the Little Lady Bucs took a 2-0 lead at the break behind two Emma Beckner goals.

Her first goal was assisted by Kyleigh Keener and the second goal had an assist from Ava Hollen.

The Little Lady Bucs iced the game away with two goals in the second half.

Allison Andrew scored with an assist from Grace Queen and then Hollen wrapped things up with an unassisted goal.

Knydal Davis and Maya Garcia split time in the net for the Little Lady Bucs with Davis making five saves and Garcia four in the shutout win.

“The Fairmont West team played a great game. I look for them to improve throughout the season,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School coach Robert Greenough. “We were able to get up on them early with some strong play from our forwards Allison Andrew, Emma Beckner and Ava Hollen.  The midfield of Grace Queen, Kyleigh Keener, Haly Triplett and Sidney Hollen played well moving forward supporting our forwards and hustling back defensively in the heat to slow the Fairmont West attack.

“Defensively we were able to keep them off the board limiting their shots early on in the game with an outstanding team effort from the center backs Alivia Barton and NinaMae Coberly along with the outside backs Harley Dean and Brinkley Currence.  Kyndal Davis anchored the defense recording her second consecutive game allowing no goals with some critical saves.  Overall a great team effort from the Lady Bucs.”

The Little Lady Bucs will return to action today as they host Barbour County at 5:30 p.m.
