CLARKSBURG – Grace Queen scored a hat trick, Harley Dean added a pair of goals along with Kallie Perry and Elaney Herron each adding a score as the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs cruised past the Washington Irving Middle School Hilltoppers by a 7-0 score Tuesday evening.
“We played a disciplined game and moved the ball around providing opportunities for multiple players to find the net,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School head coach Bob Greenough. “Kallie Perry and Elaney Herron each tallied their first goal of their middle school career with Rylen Carlyle adding a pair of assists and Alley Rice also getting an assist.”
Queen gave the Little Lady Bucs a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals to open the game with Dean getting the assist on the first goal and Carlyle the assist on the second goal.
Dean then scored consecutive goals for the Little Lady Bucs to up their lead to 4-0.
Carlyle had the assist on Dean’s first goal while Alayna Spotloe was credited with the assist on her second goal.
Queen got her hat trick before the half ended with a goal with the assist going to Mallory Hughes.
That left the Little Lady Bucs with a 5-0 advantage at the half.
The two second-half goals belonged to Perry and Herron.
Queen had the assist on Perry’s goal while Rice made the assist on Herron’s score.
Buckhannon-Upshur held Washington Irving without a shot-on-goal as B-UMS keeper Maya Garcia didn’t have to make any saves.
“It was an offensively productive game and with another outstanding performance defensively, holding the Hilltoppers without a single shot on goal,” stated Greenough. “The Hilltoppers are young and I look for them to grow as a team throughout this year and into the next couple years, but it was a great job by the Little Lady Bucs.”
The win lifted the Little Lady Bucs to 6-0-1 on the season.
They will return to the pitch Monday hosting Robert L. Bland at 5:30 p.m.
